Get to know the staff of Wardhouse Equestrian Centre, including their experience and qualifications.
Iain has run Wardhouse for over 20 years, as a riding school, livery yard, and home base for his own sports horses. He previously worked with big names such as Ian Stark. Iain regularly competes in eventing (BE novice) and dressage (BE elementary). He is also a keen cyclist.
Susan has run Wardhouse Equestrian Centre with Iain since it's inception. Her day job is as a nurse and she rides her Connemara cross, Poppy, for leisure. Susan is working on bringing Poppy on as a good all-rounder.
Louise has been at Wardhouse for 10 years and in that time she has helped grow the riding school, taught 100s of adults and children to ride, and backed and developed horses and ponies of all types. Louise has BHS Level 5 qualifications. She also has her own small business, and a Cockerpoo puppy called Rollo.
Tracy joined Wardhouse in autumn 2019 and has become an integral part of the team. She keeps the livery barn running smoothly, completes the ordering, and also coaches riding. Tracy has been coaching for more than 20 years and is also a personal trainer. Tracy keeps her ex-trotter Bullet on the yard and she has successfully re-trained him as a riding horse. She also has three dalmations - Cooper, Bella, and Nico.
Kate started at Wardhouse in spring 2020, before which she worked at a well known local competition centre and riding school. Kate coaches from beginner to intermediate level riders, and particularly enjoys helping her riders flatwork develop. She has 2 off the track Thoroughbreds which she is producing herself, Mia and Esme, and 3 rescue dogs, Wilma, Rosie and Bertie. She is also a qualified yoga teacher.
Erica has been at Wardhouse for around four years and has been teaching for many more. She's very experienced and particularly enjoys working with our Pony Club-ers, teaching them all kinds of stable management, horse care, and riding every Sunday. Erica's horses are retired so Erica spends most of her time renovating the farm she owns with her husband.
Nicola came to Wardhouse around two years ago and enjoys teaching flatwork and dressage to both adults and children alike. Nicola worked at dressage competition yards prior to this, including one in England and is working on her BHS Level 3 qualifications. She and her horse Penny compete in affiliated dressage up to BD novice.
Peanut is everyone's favourite dog and is always supervising the goings on at the yard. She works hard chasing mice (but rarely, if ever, catching them) and taking naps in the sun. Peanut enjoys making sure no staff or helpers eat too much by kindly taking some of their lunch from them every day. She is best friends with the yard cats Beans, Cheese, and Toast, and they can regularly be seen on missions together.
